By volunteering at Beacon of Hope Shelter, you can make a difference in the lives of homeless men. Be a part of something bigger than yourself. We are forming many ministry task groups and asking all those yet to volunteer to respond with your passion as to where God is asking you to serve. Worship Leaders
As a Christ-centered shelter, we hold a worship service nightly for the men who live here. We need individuals or groups to lead these worship services. Our purpose for these worship services is to spread the love of Jesus. This does not necessarily need to be done in the form of a “sermon”. Your message of God’s love can come in the form of music, a short skit, a testimony, or any creative way of conveying the grace and love of Jesus Christ. Feeding the Hungry
Our numbers vary greatly each day so we serve as few as fifteen and as fifty men each night at the Beacon. It’s best to contact Annette (info below.) They eat at 5:30 p.m. so anyone helping with the meal would have to plan for that many and that time.

There are two ways to prepare/serve the meal
1. You can come to the shelter a day or two prior to serving and see what we have in the pantry/refrigerator/freezer that would work for a meal. We try to provide meals that include meat/veggie and-or fruit/dessert/beverage. We don’t always have an extensive selection to choose from, but there are times when we do. You just sort of take a chance. If you go this route, you can take what you need from the shelter to prepare your meal ahead and bring it cooked/prepared to the shelter. You would then serve the meal at 5:30pm.
2. The other option is to have your group provide the food, prepare it at home and bring it ready to serve.
We have all the table service, and will provide the beverage. Unfortunately, our kitchen isn’t well equipped at this time for groups to come in and prepare the food there. It’s possible, but we prefer that it be prepared ahead if at all possible.
Volunteer Staffing
Hey Beacon fans, we need HELP. We are looking for volunteers for our receiving desk and this is an opportunity to be blessed. The receiving desk is open 24/7, we have many shifts open but the hardest to find volunteers for is between 10 pm and 5 am. Matthew 25:40 states: “And the King shall answer and say unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.’ ” Please help us by being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. We need volunteers in the areas of fundraising and promoting the shelter, helping with communications, and all areas that make a business run. If you have a skill that you think would be helpful, please let us know!
